Legends, Where Gaming Gives Back
June 17, 2026
When you play at Legends Casino Hotel, you're part of something bigger. The Yakama Cares program, funded through Yakama Nation Legends Casino Hotel, uses gaming to improve lives in the Yakima Valley.
This year, Yakama Cares awarded grants totaling nearly $550,000, funding everything from cancer patient assistance and pediatric palliative care to water rescue equipment and backpacks for students.
Among this year’s most powerful stories comes from the Naches Firefighters' Association, a volunteer fire department serving the rural community of Naches, Washington. Their $9,500 Yakama Cares grant funded battery-operated stretchers. While this equipment may sound straightforward, it fills a much-needed gap.
“Our current stretcher is an older model that requires manual operations and multiple people to operate. The newer power stretcher is easier to operate and load into our transport vehicle. A huge thank you to Firefighter/EMT-IV Michelle Swanson for writing this grant for us!” -Naches Firefighters' Association
Legends is proud to help support entities like Naches Fire. Its dedicated crew of volunteers is always seeking ways to provide better care and consistently goes above and beyond to provide life-saving help in our community.
Other recipients include much-needed healthcare and outreach services throughout the Yakima Valley. From North Star Lodge and Yakima Free Clinic to Triumph Treatment Services and Rod’s House, our recipients are known for their care, community-building, and consistent support.
Life Support, dedicated to strengthening emergency medical services along the busy I-90 corridor, received its grant for water rescue equipment and a rescue litter to help in rapid response for travelers, recreationists, visitors, and residents in its surrounding community.
With institutions like this, we’re delighted to be a part of bolstering the community service, emergency response, and healthcare organizations that do such important work.
Thank you to all this year’s applicants. Learn more about Yakama Cares and keep an eye out for next year’s applications. We look forward to being of service.
